Who You Are

We have an immediate hybrid Configuration Manager position available in Columbia, SC. If you join our team in this role, you will play a key strategic role while collaborating closely with DBAs and developers to build a database that captures ticketing statistics and other critical data. This initiative will help us identify trends, assess equipment needs, and support long-term planning. 

What You'll Do

  • Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
    • Configuration Management Coordination: Lead all Configuration Management activities by developing procedures for introducing changes to engineering documents and overseeing the review of released change data to ensure compliance with configuration management policies.
    • Tools and Processes: Utilize modern configuration, application, and lifecycle management tools to maintain version control for software code, packages, libraries, containers, virtual machines, releases, and documentation.
    • Configuration Management Plan: Maintain ownership of the program's Configuration Management Plan, facilitate Configuration Control Boards, and support the establishment of a Configuration Management Library.
    • Change Control Processes: Assist in planning and producing a configuration control process that protects our network infrastructure from improper modifications. This includes controlling changes to baseline hardware, firmware, software, and documentation.
    • Documentation Coordination: Ensure that changes to installed baseline equipment, configuration specifications, and site locations are properly documented in coordination with engineering, integration teams, logistics, and program management.
    • Stakeholder Interaction: Interface with project managers, developers, technical system owners, and business system owners, serving as a resource for Release Management in new projects and implementations.
    • Support for Development and QA: Assist developers, users, and the Quality Assurance team with code storage, builds, and transitions from development to testing and production environments through automation.
    • Automation and Documentation: Manage build/deploy templates for automation, maintain accurate documentation for change and version control processes, and address issues promptly.
    • Change Control Advocacy: Balance business needs with change control concerns, clearly articulating issues to management.
    • Reporting and Resolution: Generate reports and collaborate with the project team to resolve discrepancies.
    • Plan Enforcement: Enforce and maintain Configuration Management Plans across various programs, develop and implement procedures for the CM environment, and conduct audits for process integrity.
    • Continuous Improvement: Assess project ticketing needs and recommend solutions, create and implement CM plans that meet customer requirements, train team members on CM processes, and continuously evaluate and refine CM plans.

What You Bring

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
  • 4 years of experience in IT Configuration Management within a complex IT environment.
  • Experience running Configuration Control Boards and conducting briefings as required.
  • Strong understanding of IT Configuration Management techniques, processes, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with software operation in production and test environments.

  • Strong presentation abilities, capable of tailoring content for diverse audiences.
  • Proven interpersonal skills and a talent for team building.
  • Ability to work effectively in both collaborative and independent settings.

Clearance:
Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance.
