Who You Are

The Engagement Manager of Special Events will be responsible for the growth and development of the United Way of Monmouth and Ocean Counties’ special events. Responsible for creating and executing the development plan for all UWMOC special events; Research, identify and acquire new companies for all special events while securing new and upgrading current sponsors.

What You'll Do

Special Events

  • Lead and manage all special events inclusive but not limited to United for Impact Golf, United for Impact Food Truck, United for Impact Wine Event and all third-party events
  • Develop a growth plan for all special events by identifying new corporate relationships
  • Create special events budgets based on organizational budget in order to ensure goals are met
  • Lead special events committees and recruit members to help insure growth of the event
  • Follow Best Practices by securing committee chairs for following event year prior to current event

Sponsorship Sales

  • Renew all current sponsors for events and create a plan to secure new corporate support to support budget plan and build pipeline
  • Follow Best Practices and renew sponsorship commitments within 90 days post event
  • Work with VP of Engagement on sponsorship year-round opportunities

 

Individual Donor Engagement 

  • Participate in community activities which contribute to the acquisition and retention of individual donors
  • Assist in the cultivation and management of ongoing relationships with current and prospective donors

 

What You Bring

Knowledge of:

  • Nonprofit fundraising techniques
  • Techniques in donor engagement and retention
  • Special event fundraising

Skills in:

  • Special Event management
  • Project management
  • Public speaking and large-scale presentations
  • Statistical analysis
  • Administrative support
  • Client relationship management software, such as Andar/CRM or Greater Giving
  • Microsoft Office products

 

Able to:

  • Work flexible hours (evenings and weekends), as required
  • Form strong and positive work relationships with diverse groups of people
  • Take initiative, work independently and demonstrate leadership
  • Multitask with an attention to detail
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing; pleasant and personable manner.
  • Organize, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Have a team-oriented personality; willingness to help where needed
  • Travel to meetings and event sites throughout Monmouth and Ocean counties
  • Lift cartons or packages in excess of 20 lbs., or to stand or sit for extended periods of time
  • Drive United Way cargo van; valid NJ Driver’s License with no more than 2 moving violation points required

 

Education and Experience Required:

Three to five years of related work experience strongly preferred and a passion for the work of UWMOC; Bachelor’s degree preferred.  References required with application

Reports To:  Vice President of Engagement

Status:  Regular Full-Time; Salary; Exempt
