Who You Are

The Inception Company is seeking an Assistant Controller for a growing business in the virtual meeting industry. Working closely with the Director of Finance and Accounting, the Assistant Controller plays a key role in overseeing and optimizing the financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate reporting, and supporting the financial decision-making process. The role involves managing day-to-day accounting activities, assisting with financial planning and analysis, and collaborating with management to align budgets with company goals.  

What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting & Financial Reporting 

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.  
  • Assist with complex accounting issues and be able to display a deep understanding of proper accounting treatments.  
  • Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP. 
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis. 
  • Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and tax preparation. 

 

Budgeting & Financial Analysis 

  • Collaborate with senior management to develop and monitor budgets. 
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making for ongoing and future projects. 
  • Monitor cash flow and forecast financial needs, ensuring the company maintains adequate liquidity. 
  • Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analysis to identify and act on trends. 

 

Team Leadership & Collaboration 

  • Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and training to enhance their professional development. 
  • Act as a liaison between the finance department and external stakeholders, such as banks, investors, and vendors. 

What You Bring

Qualifications:

 

Education & Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA preferred). 
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience 

 

Skills & Competencies 

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct) and advanced knowledge of Excel. 
  • Working knowledge of advanced reporting tools (e.g. Workiva, PowerBI, Tableau). 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, detail oriented and organized. 
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial team members.
