Who You Are

A NYC Owner and operator of commercial properties is looking for a Controller with real estate experience.

 

What You'll Do

  • Maintain internal controls and safeguards
  • Monitor cash flow and manage banking relationships, record banking transactions and perform reconciliation for multiple accounts
  • Supervise Accounts Payable, approve and process weekly payments
  • Prepare and file 1099 and 1098 forms
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, including retirement plan contributions and benefits payments
  • Perform HR duties for union and non-union staff members
  • Collaborate on various audits from the government and 3' party accounting firm
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision making
  • Manage company IT infrastructure in partnership with the MSP
  • Generate and analyze monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements for multiple entities and consolidate to assess the performance
  • Process Real Estate tax payments
  • Collaborate with legal firms on RE tax assessments, prepare TC201 forms, file RPIE
  • Calculate and allocate administrative, insurance, marketing and accounting expenses to properties
  • Maintain various schedules to record activity, including but not limited to prepaid expenses, amortization and depreciation and others
  • Collaborate with VP Finance and VP Operations on annual budgets, forecasts and cash flow statements
  • Manage the general ledger system, prepare journal entries and review ledgers
  • Assist with tax returns preparation
  • Respond to inquiries from lenders
  • Analize and record investment portfolio activity based on statements and K1s
  • File quarterly state sales tax returns
  • Work closely with senior leadership to provide financial insight and strategic recommendations
  • Perform other related duties and contribute to special projects

What You Bring

Knowledge and Competencies:

  • Knowledge: Strong knowledge of accounting principles, proficiency in accounting Software (MRI preferred), skilled in Excel with the ability to create complex spreadsheets to track, analyze and audit data.
  • Competencies: Professionalism, analytical thinker, written and verbal communication, detail oriented, collaborative, drive for results with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • B.S. in Accounting or Finance
  • Experience:
  • Required: 7+ years general accounting experience with proven record of growth and leadership preferably with real estate industry exposure
  • Certifications & Licenses:
  • CPA preferred
  • Physical Requirements/Environment/Working Conditions:
  • Requires extended periods of sitting, typing and reviewing information on a computer screen. Additionally, extended periods of standing, bending, stooping and some lifting in connection with filing is required.
  • Job Type: Full-time in-office. 

What We Offer

Salary: $140k - $170k
