Who You Are

The Policy Analyst is responsible for designing and implementing project plans to advance policy reforms consistent with CaroNova’s mission and purpose to redesign the health ecosystem. The Policy Analyst ensures CaroNova’s policy platform is aligned with portfolio areas and executed according to project aims and objectives. This person will help ensure progress is communicated to team members and relevant stakeholders, and project teams implement prompt adjustments to plans as relevant and needed to meet targets. The Policy Analyst serves a critical role in ensuring that CaroNova’s day-to-day policy activities align with the organization’s strategic aims.  This position will initially lead policy-related programs within CaroNova’s Improving Mental Wellness portfolio while providing policy support and analysis across all CaroNova portfolio areas.

 

The Policy Analyst will have strong policy analysis, development, and implementation skills and an understanding of the healthcare landscape in North and South Carolina. The Policy Analyst will hold proven skills and abilities in synthesizing complex information into robust and actionable project plans. The Policy Analyst will hold experience working closely with cross-functional teams, building, and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, monitoring program performance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance program and policy effectiveness.

What You'll Do

  • Support ongoing monitoring and analysis of federal and state policy issues, trends, and regulatory changes that impact CaroNova programmatic areas
  • Assist with developing and implementing organizational plans and goals for policy initiatives
  • Provide policy support for assigned programs, ensuring alignment with CaroNova mission, vision, goals, and aims
  • Plan, execute, and manage milestones and deliverables for assigned bodies of work
  • Conduct in-depth research on policy issues using qualitative and quantitative methods
  • Analyze existing policies and assess their effectiveness
  • Draft policy briefs, reports, and recommendations as appropriate
  • Serve as a principal liaison with policy partners and program participants on assigned project communications, timelines, logistical needs, and to triage needed support  
  • Prepare and present regular status reports to stakeholders, and maintain thorough documentation of all activities in assigned body of work
  • Liaise with the communications team to ensure meeting materials are prepared and adhere to brand standards including all PowerPoint presentations, agendas, and other audio/visual needs 
  • Liaise with the measurement/impact team ensuring alignment between policy goals and programmatic evaluation needs
  • Support the development of all assigned content to include board materials, digital content, and other relevant collateral are up to date, secure, and accessible by appropriate audiences 

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in public health, public policy, or related field preferred
  • 5 years of leadership experience in a health, social, governmental, or educational organization
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills; strong policy analysis experience; strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate cross-functional teams
  • Qualifications may be met through a mix of formal education and relevant work experience

What We Offer

The salary range for this position is $75,000-$85,000 annually. CaroNova offers competitive benefits to include a 401k with a 5% employer contribution, fully-paid healthcare, dental, and vision premiums for employees, 16 paid holidays per year, 20 days PTO, and a home tech stipend.
