At Karafin, our mission is to help every student achieve their maximum potential.

 

The Karafin School was founded in 1958 to serve students with special needs.  In its early years, it expanded rapidly and became well known for its emphasis on an individualized approach and its concern for each student’s specific needs.   

 

Throughout the sixty-five years of its existence, the Karafin School has changed to adapt to technological developments and changing educational standards.  It has maintained a high graduation rate, with most of its students going on to two and four year colleges.

Today the Karafin School continues to serve students who have not experienced success in public schools.  The high standards which have distinguished the school from its earliest days are now maintained by an experienced and dedicated staff. 

Who You Are

A dedicated and dependable Teachers Aide to support classroom instruction, foster student engagement, and contribute to a positive, inclusive academic environment. The Teacher Aide will work closely with faculty and staff to assist students, maintain classroom order, and provide essential support to teachers.

What You'll Do

  • Assist classroom teachers in delivering instructional content and academic activities.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, reinforcing lessons and promoting understanding.
  • Support teachers in preparing materials, setting up technology, and organizing classroom resources.
  • Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, lunchrooms, and during school events.
  • Assist in maintaining student records, tracking attendance, and managing classroom logistics.
  • Promote a respectful, structured, and supportive classroom environment in line with the school’s values.
  • Help implement individual support plans for students with unique learning needs.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and other professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain confidentiality and act in accordance with school policies and procedures.

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education or related fields preferred.
  • Experience working with children or in a school setting is preferred.
  • Ability to take direction, adapt to a dynamic classroom environment, and work collaboratively with faculty.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must pass a background check and comply with all applicable school and local education requirements.
  • CPI and or TCI training a plus. 

What We Offer

Hourly Rate of pay $18-$24 depending on experience.
