LKMA serves many governmental and private clients on a continual basis from our offices located in the Hamlet of Brookhaven, NY and our satellite office in Hicksville, NY.

Who You Are

The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of tasks associated with electrical and mechanical engineering, with a strong emphasis on electrical power distribution and systems design for building and site infrastructure. Projects will primarily include municipal facilities and marine infrastructure throughout Long Island. The position will be based out of the LKMA Brookhaven Offices.

What You'll Do

Responsibilities

Potential work tasks may include the following:

  • Preparation of Contract Drawings using AutoCAD and Revit software.
  • Utility service coordination, building electrical systems, site power distribution, lighting and photometric design, generator and ATS sizing, backup power systems, energy code compliance, short-circuit/coordination/arc-flash studies, fire alarm, communications, and low-voltage systems.
  • Preparing technical specifications to support project documentation and construction contracts.
  • Data collection and field measurements of existing conditions.
  • Construction cost estimating.
  • Coordination with municipal agencies and utility companies.
  • Mechanical design experience (HVAC, plumbing) is a plus.

What You Bring

Skills & Abilities

  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit software.
  • Familiarity with software such as AGi32 (lighting), COMcheck (energy code compliance), and SKM/ETAP (power system analysis) is a plus.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

 

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of professional MEP engineering design experience, with significant emphasis on building and site electrical power distribution systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in municipal and marine projects strongly preferred.
  • EIT certification not required, but a plus.
