What You'll Do

The Application and Design Engineer II is a critical role in the development, design, and testing of new products while also providing advanced technical support to customers. This position requires a deeper level of expertise and autonomy in managing projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and influencing product development to align with market needs and industry trends.

Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Lead the analysis, development, and recommendation of design approaches to meet production and customer requirements for existing, new, or improved products and/or processes.
  • Conduct research to identify applications, performance criteria, and functional requirements, ensuring that designs meet customer specifications and industry regulations.
  • Develop and evaluate multiple product design solutions, balancing factors such as corporate image, market research, applications engineering, human factors, manufacturing constraints, materials, safety, aesthetics, and cost considerations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Manufacturing, and Quality, to drive successful product development and implementation.
  • Produce conceptual prototypes and validate designs through engineering calculations, testing, and analysis.
  • Serve as a key technical advisor to customers, providing in-depth engineering support and resolving complex technical inquiries.
  • Develop and deliver training on Teadit products and services, including relevant industry codes and standards.
  • Support and participate in the organization’s continual improvement program to conform to ISO 9001:2008 requirements by complying with the Quality Policy and procedures and meeting QMS objectives.

What You Bring

  • EDUCATION AND TRAINING
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related technical field.
    • Experience as described below may be accepted in lieu of education.
  • EXPERIENCE
    • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in application engineering, engineering design, product development, or related technical roles.
    • Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment a plus.
    • Experience with bolted joint assemblies and sealing technologies is a plus.
    • Education as described above may be accepted in lieu of experience.
  • KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
    • Strong conceptual design skills, including sketching, rendering, and prototype model work utilizing CAD/CAM tools.
    • Advanced ability to perform engineering calculations to support product design activities.
    • Proficiency in drafting techniques and symbology.
    • Strong technical research skills.
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Superior oral, written, and presentation communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts.
    • Ability to communicate and work well with teams composed of customers and/or other employees of all levels.
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with situations where limited standardization exists.
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    • Ability to formulate and document a high-level plan with input from many functional groups.
    • Ability to work under pressure of schedules.
