Who You Are

The Medical Assistant’s role is to assist the physician with patient care. You will be obtaining history and primary complaints; assisting with biopsies and select surgery procedures.  You willbe educating our patients on treatment plans and medication. You will be performing nursing procedures and handling pathology and lab information.

 

It is essential that you possess exceptional communication skills. You must be friendly, outgoing and empathetic towards patients and their needs. You must have knowledge and understanding of skin anatomy and the ability to anticipate physician needs for patient treatment plans.  We fully expect you to be a part of our team and excel in this fast-paced environment, and are well organized and pay attention to details.

What You'll Do

  • Room patients.
  • Obtain detailed patient medical history regarding patient’s primary complaint.
  • Obtain or update the medication list.
  • Review patient chart and make sure that all required documents are completed by the patient and are scanned in the chart.
  • Obtain necessary consent forms from patients.
  • Scribe for the medical provider.
  • Set up exam rooms according to scheduled procedure as well as any additional needs of the physician for non-scheduled procedures.
  • Assists physicians with biopsies and surgical procedures such as excisions, ED&C, cryo therapy, laser surgery, etc.
  • Perform nursing procedures such as suture removal, dressing changes, without direct physician supervision.
  • Educate the patient on the treatment plan established by the physician. Ensure that the patient understands the treatment plan, the proper use of their medications, and the importance of patient compliance of the treatment plan prior to leaving the office.
  • Straighten and clean the exam rooms after patient visits.
  • Fill out all required pathology and laboratory requisition documents for patients as required by physicians.
  • Stock all exam rooms.
  • Clean and sterilize all medical instruments.
  • Run autoclave when necessary.
  • Prepare and submit inventory list of supplies needed to avoid shortages.
  • Gather samples / e-scribe all prescriptions.
  • Assemble biopsy and surgical packs.
  • Must demonstrate a strong understanding of the i-pledge program and assist with dashboard data entry and guidance with patients.
  • Retrieve phone messages and return calls regarding patient prescriptions, provider instruction, and lab/biopsy results.
  • Schedule appointments for patients as requested or needed.
