Who You Are

The Healthcare Compliance Specialist is responsible for supporting and promoting organizational compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, accreditation standards, grant requirements, internal policies, and contractual obligations related to healthcare operations.

 

This role partners collaboratively across all organizational divisions to foster a culture of compliance, accountability, ethical practices, and continuous quality improvement. The position assists with regulatory interpretation, compliance monitoring, auditing activities, staff education, risk assessments, and corrective action initiatives to ensure ongoing regulatory readiness and operational integrity.

What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities

  • Research, interpret, and assist with the implementation of federal, state, and local healthcare regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Conduct compliance audits, reviews, and monitoring activities to evaluate adherence to healthcare laws, regulations, accreditation standards, organizational policies, grant requirements, and contractual obligations.
  • Track, analyze, and identify trends related to compliance concerns, inquiries, complaints, and audit findings, and assist with corrective action planning and follow-up activities.
  • Collaborate with leadership and operational teams across all divisions to support compliance with applicable healthcare regulations, policies, accreditation requirements, grants, and contracts.
  • Support the development, coordination, and delivery of healthcare compliance education and training programs for staff.
  • Assist with ongoing Compliance Program risk assessments, monitoring initiatives, and process improvement efforts.
  • Maintain documentation related to compliance activities, audit findings, investigations, recommendations, and corrective action plans.
  • Monitor regulatory updates, accreditation changes, and emerging compliance risks impacting healthcare programs and operations.
  • Support organizational preparedness for accreditation surveys, regulatory reviews, and external audits.

What You Bring

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, Compliance, Legal Studies, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in healthcare compliance, regulatory oversight, auditing, accreditation, quality assurance, or a related healthcare compliance function.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply healthcare regulations and compliance standards effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) and/or Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) preferred.
  • Experience with accreditation standards and survey processes, including:
    • The Joint Commission (JCAHO)
    • Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality (CIHQ)
  • Experience supporting compliance programs within healthcare, behavioral health, community health, or related regulated environments preferred.
