Who You Are

As a Commercial Service Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, installing, and servicing a wide variety of commercial equipment and systems.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Commercial HVAC
  • Air Handling Systems (ALS)
  • Commercial Refrigeration
  • Commercial Cooking Equipment
  • Commercial Kitchen Equipment

You will work directly with customers and internal teams to identify equipment issues, determine the appropriate repair or service, communicate recommendations, and complete assigned work safely, efficiently, and professionally.

What You'll Do

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Equipment Service & Repair

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC, refrigeration, air handling, and cooking equipment.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, equipment overhauls, inspections, and troubleshooting.
  • Service a wide range of commercial kitchen equipment, including:
    • Ovens
    • Walk-in coolers and freezers
    • Reach-in refrigeration
    • Dish machines
    • Fryers
    • Mixers
    • Tilt skillets
    • Steam equipment
    • Cooking equipment
    • HVAC systems and air handling units
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, gas, and related equipment issues.
  • Read and interpret equipment schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Perform testing on equipment, electrical circuits, and systems to identify and resolve problems.
  • Ensure equipment is operating safely, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable standards.

Customer Service

  • Provide exceptional customer service in accordance with company policies and SOPs.
  • Maintain positive and professional relationships with customers.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, managers, dispatchers, and fellow employees.
  • Develop strong customer rapport and understand the customer's equipment, service, and repair needs.
  • Clearly explain equipment issues, recommended repairs, parts, and service requirements.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities involving aging, inefficient, or obsolete equipment that may require replacement.
  • Respond to customer requests and concerns in a timely and professional manner.

Work Management & Documentation

  • Complete assigned service calls and work orders accurately and within established timeframes.
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
  • Manage parts and materials needed to complete assigned jobs.
  • Maintain vehicle, tools, equipment, and inventory in an organized and professional manner.
  • Requisition and order parts and materials through the company's online ordering system.
  • Use tablets, computers, and other technology to complete work orders and communicate job information.
  • Follow company procedures and policies at all times.

Safety & Professional Standards

  • Complete all work safely and efficiently in accordance with company safety standards.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines when using tools, equipment, ladders, and machinery.
  • Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a professional, courteous, and respectful attitude toward customers and coworkers.
  • Demonstrate honesty, integrity, accountability, and reliability.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to after-hours emergency service calls when scheduled.

What You Bring

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial HVAC, refrigeration, commercial kitchen equipment, or a related service field.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC, refrigeration, commercial kitchen equipment, or a related service field.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documents.
  • EPA Universal CFC/608 Certification required for applicable HVAC/refrigeration work.
  • CFESA certification is a plus, particularly in gas, electrical, steam, or refrigeration.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Computer, tablet, and mobile technology experience.
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical school, trade certification, or additional industry training preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record in accordance with company policy.
  • Must be able to successfully pass the company's background check and drug screening.

PHYSICAL & WORKING REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift and carry 50–75 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to lift or move heavier equipment, up to approximately 100 pounds with assistance and/or proper lifting equipment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in various positions for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces when required.
  • Ability to work in a variety of commercial and industrial environments.
  • Ability to work around electrical equipment, steam, high temperatures, refrigeration systems, and other potentially hazardous conditions while following all required safety procedures.
  • Extensive daily travel to customer and job-site locations.
  • Availability to participate in an on-call rotation and occasional weekend or after-hours service.
